If your baby appears to be jaundiced please contact Dr Jardine’s Practice. We will require a jaundice test (SBR) to be done at the lab in order to assess the severity of jaundice in your baby.
Your baby should be fed on demand whether it is in the form of formula or breastfeeding. They should be having at least 5 wet/dirty nappies per day.
Every newborn should have a hearing screening test and a thyroid (TSH) screening test done, preferably prior to discharge from the hospital.
Red Flags in a Newborn (less than 6 weeks old): any fever, pus around the umbilical cord, poor feeding, vomiting or diarrhoea. Please see your Paediatrician immediately.
